AMD 65 nm Technology is Coming

At the same time with the launched of the processor product with energy-efficient type, AMD also announce the transition to 65 nm process technology, started with the existence of dual core processor for desktop, namely AMD Athlon64 X2 energy-efficient.

With move to 65nm process technology, it’s true make AMD can produce more amount processor from the 300 mm wafer, surely will improve entire capacities produce, and also remain to continue the raising of performance scale, and the degradation of entire energy requirement aggressively.

The transition, besides will affect from the performance side, it’s also enable the smaller form factor creation, which can completely the computing requirement for the home type and also office.

In the next middle of the 2007, AMD expect the transition process to 65 nm process technology will finished, which conducted in Fab 36. With the mass transition process in the entire processor product, AMD seems try clever enough and work hard to fulfill the increasing requirement of world technology, at processor X86 type.

The product its self, which started with this process technology is Athlon64 X2 5000+, 4800+, 4400+, and 4000+. With each alternately offering price from AMD, that is US$301, US$271, USD$214, and USD$169.

AMD Athlon 64 New Series

For the Athlon 64 X2 6000+ processor, nowadays AMD have officially announced the launching. Besides that processor, AMD is also launching energy efficient processor for Athlon 64 3500+ and 3800+ series. The processors which run at 3.0 GHz clock will remain to use 90 nm process technologies. With that fact, the processor can be told as AMD first processor that reached 3.O GHz clock.

Then for the energy efficient processor itself, there is Athlon 64 3500+ and 3800+, both representing the series of Single-Core processor. From the process technology, both also adopted the 65 nm process technology, and this why it is named with energy-efficient series, because will require the small energy consumption.

For this processor energy efficient series, AMD rate the energy requirement of TDP (Thermal Design Point) only 45 Watt. Surely this feature will become one of interesting point for the consumer which paying attention for energy problem, or also the temperature level.
