Lenovo Thinkpad X300 Review
By Ditto Asnar
The Lenovo ThinkPad X300 is a prime example that ultra-portable notebooks can be fully functional and still reap all benefits that an ultra-portable form factor brings. First and foremost, it’s a ThinkPad, renown for quality, reliability and legendary performance
The Lenovo ThinkPad X300 notebook offers an optional built-in 7-millimeter slim DVD burner for easy, flexible, on-the-go multimedia capabilities. It plus includes stereo speakers, a digital microphone and an integrated camera. X300 is so ultraportable that is said to combine everything that most ultraportables possess today. The screen size is 13.3 inches, dimensions at 12.5 by 9.1 by 0.73 inches and it is a definite slim notebook.
Users have a variety of connectivity options at their fingertips including models designed for WiMax, when the technology becomes available, as well as ultra-wideband/wireless USB, WWAN, WLAN and GB Ethernet. Built-in GPS functionality allows mobile users to navigate by helping them to connect to popular mapping programs. Users can even opt for next-generation wireless capabilities with Ultra-Wideband. With Lenovo’s new cooling system, the notebook runs three decibels quieter over previous models and up to 10 percent cooler even under the most intensive tasks.
The laptop also includes stereo speakers, a digital microphone and an integrated camera. The Lenovo ThinkPad X300 is one of the first full size laptops to go up against the thin of the thin, Mac Air. Though the X300 isn’t as thin, it does offer some hardware features that the Mac Air can’t handle because of its thinness.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X300 also features a 1.8 inch, 64 GB solid state drive (SSD), which provides more than twice the performance of standard 2.5 inch hard drives. With no moving parts, this technology offers more than four times greater shock resistance, lighter weight and a faster boot time for applications. Lenovo X300 is for those looking for a full featured thin and light weight notebook. While it may not be as thin (or sexy looking) as the MacBook Air, you’ll surely be more productive with the X300.
